Plan of Return to Worship Beginning

October 11th, 9:30am

St. Johns Lutheran Church

Dear Companions in and with Christ

October 1, 2020

Grace and peace to you!  With support from our church’s task force and church’s executive team, below is a list of considerations/requirements for returning to in-person worship in St. John’s sanctuary.  We ask that we’d all strive to keep things safe, using our best judgment and common sense, acting in good faith.  Below is our intention to journey forward safely with gathering for in-person worship in the sanctuary.

* A ‘soft-opening’ or ‘trial-run’ October 11th to see what may need adapted in subsequent weeks

* 1 worship service, in the sanctuary, held at 9:30am

* Ones exposed to the virus in recent days before worship are asked not to attend

* Ones feeling ill are asked not to attend

* Masks are required (if underlying health conditions exist, the mask may be removed as long as ones are adequately distanced)

* We’ll have extra masks on hand if attendee arrives having forgotten a mask

* Attendees adequately/safely spaced throughout the sanctuary (select pews will be roped off to ensure safe distancing)

* Hand sanitizer at entrances and elevator

* Free-will offering (offering plates will not be passed)

* No choir anthems

* No bulletin (everything via powerpoint)

* An adapted liturgy/worship service (30-40 minutes)

* Singing minimized (maybe a hum, or softly singing, with one person being the main 'voice')

* We’ll continue with live-streaming services via Facebook Live

* Avoid congregating by ushering attendees at the end of the service to dismiss

* Communion shared at the end of the worship service (pick up communion packet on way out – avoids removing masks, touching face, and clean up work)

Christ's peace be with you always, dear companions on the Way,

Update on COVID-19

We are here for you

Dear Church Family,

I wanted to let you know that out of an abundance of caution for the escalating Coronavirus situation, we have decided to not physically host our weekend services at St. John’s Lutheran Church this the following weeks. The health and safety of our church family is our #1 priority, and this difficult decision was made to protect our St. John families, volunteers, staff, and our broader communities. Our leadership is closely monitoring the situation. We will post updates at the top of this page.

We will not be hosting an Onsite Sunday Service at any St. John's Lutheran for the next few weeks.

We are diligently working on LiveStreaming the services so you will not have to miss out on God's word.

Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more information.

Join us in prayer for decreases in cases of the virus throughout the world and our community.

Please consider giving online to support the mission of St. john Lutheran Church.
