Our Ministries
Abigail Circle
Provides luncheons for mantins and whenever there is help needed in the church.
Adult
Sunday School
Adult Sunday School meets each Sunday in the lounge in the Parish House at 9:15 to 10:15. We are studying the individual books of the Bible. Please join us in studying God’s word.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is made up of men, women and couples who serve the Lord and the church by caring for the altar and the ceremonial aspects of church services. They keep the Chancel area in good order, prepare for Holy Communion, change banners and paraments, and clean Communion vessels, linen and acolyte robes. Meetings when needed.
Children's Ministry
Kids are welcome to join in! We have a ton of fun stuff going on here. We get to learn about the life of Jesus and the Bible while often digging into some games and arts and crafts
Church Council
The role of the Church Council is to assess and shape strategic and long-term direction, evaluate Church doctrine, protect church unity and oversee administrative functions of the church.
Funeral luncheon
The St. John’s Luncheon Committee is a Ministry offered by our parish. It is a very special service provided for parish families in their time of need following the death of their loved one. Through the generosity of faithful volunteers within our parish, we are able to provide a luncheon and a time of fellowship and comfort for the grieving family following the funeral service.
Luther Lunch
The men and women over 55 gather the third Wednesday of every month at 11:30a.m. at the church. Sometimes, they go out to eat at a restaurant that is chosen or have a potluck in the Parish House. They play games after lunch for fellowship and fun. They do sign cards to send to members for anniversaries, birthdays and get wells. Anyone is welcome to come.
Ministers Of Communion
A team of adults who go give communion to our shut-ins and nursing homes residents. We are always looking for others to join us in this ministry.
Pealers Handbells
The Pealers Bell Choir plays two to three octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Chimes. Rehearsals are held each Wednesday during the school year. The Pealers perform on the first Sunday of each month at the 10:30 service with additional performances Christmas Eve and during Lent. Prior ringing experience or musical experience is desired to join the group.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, mothering God!
Quilt Sewing Group
The ladies that meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month work on quilts for Lutheran World Relief. We sew at home and then meet together to put the quilts together and tie them. New members are needed and no sewing skills are necessary. Everyone can tie a knot so BOTH men and women are welcome to come.
Rachel Charity Circle
The ladies meet the first Wednesday of every month except July at 1:00p.m. in the lounge in the Parish House. They do a Bible study each month except December when they go out to eat for their Christmas celebration. Anyone is welcome to join this small group for their Bible Study.
Ringers Handbells
The Ringers Bell Choir plays five octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Chimes. Rehearsals are held each Wednesday during the school year. The Ringers perform on the first Sunday of each month at the 10:30 service with additional performances Christmas Eve and during Lent. Prior ringing experience or musical experience is desired to join this group.
Share and Care
Members of St. John’s help sort clothes and hang them at Share and Care on Thursdays and the first and third Saturdays during the months of February, April, October and December. More help is needed any time from 9 to 3. Come and help our community’s resale shop.
Wii Bowling
A fun group of adults meet to have a Wii tournament. They play on Tuesdays at 4:15p.m. in the Youth Room in the Parish House. Usually a fall and early spring activity. Please come and join us.
Youth and Family Ministry
Come and hang out at Youth Group! We have a ton of cool stuff going on like game nights, pizza eating, and much more! Not only do we have a lot of fun but we tackle serious issues going on with our youth today.

Blessing Box Ministry
The Blessing Box is open for all to give and to receive. It’s neighbors helping neighbors, people helping people. Think of it as a little outdoor free food pantry. It holds food and other items for basic needs for anyone who may have a need. We hope to love God, to love others, to be faithful to God in humble service, to be a blessing to the community, and to be blessed by this ministry.
